How to pay attention in class

You want to learn, to listen to your teacher and to integrate all the information given in class, but will find it all so ... boring! It is difficult to focus on Avogadro's number when you want to think about your friend Sarah you'll see after school. Yet if you follow these tips to help you act on your mental and your physical, you get to focus. Like most things in school, it takes work and determination, but once you have acquired this ability, you'll be glad you made the effort.
  1. Remove any distracting. The most basic thing you need to do to get you to focus in class is to get rid of any distracting. Many things are likely to distract you during the lesson. Try to be aware of what you do when you're more focused. Once you understand what disturbs you, you can more easily get rid of it.
    • Distractions from sources such as computers, phones or other small object with which one can play. These are also the things that are around you, as a friend, a classmate or a window.
    • To get rid of a distraction, it is best to do it physically disappear. If it's a classmate that distracts you, sit with someone else. Your teacher will understand and will probably be very happy to help you find another place.
  2. Focus on the present moment. You have to keep your mind wanders. No daydreaming! Keep your head on your shoulders, in the present, you will think of other things later. It's hard to put into practice, but if you get there you will like this.
    • Here are some examples of things you should not think: games, that you will do after class, to your small (e) ami (e), your friends, your family ... and you should not not most think of books you like to read and where you would go.
    • You must learn to deliberately refocus your attention. Pull yourself and force yourself to think back to the lesson. This will become a habit and you will learn to dream less during class.
    • This means that even if you think of anything else that during such testing come, you must pull yourself together and refocus on what will happen next. It is important to sometimes think about the upcoming tests, but while your mind is thinking about it, you are not going to integrate what you are supposed to learn in the moment.
  3. Reconcentrez your attention if necessary. Pay attention to what your mind is doing. If you catch yourself thinking of anything but what is happening now in the course, then you need to refocus your attention. Try internally repeat what is said by the teacher, especially the important points.
    • You must train yourself to build your concentration. Test yourself by trying to accomplish a difficult task while putting a distracting background music. Concentration is a skill that needs practice and develop, like any other capacity.
  4. Talk with your teacher of the course. Everyone has a different way of learning. The way your teacher teaches is perhaps not the best way to learn for you. Take your professor from time to time to ask for advice on how you could make the most of the course.
    • Ask him to give you examples of learning methods. Some people learn better by using images, while others prefer to use the sounds. These are the different learning methods and there are many.Ask your teacher to help you find what learning style suits you best and how it might apply for this course in particular.
    • Personalize your lessons and homework. You can also ask your teacher that it gives you exercises or additional projects to help you learn the same course but in a way that suits you best. If you are serious about learning and you work hard, your professor will certainly agree to help.
  5. Create your own motivation. When you're highly motivated, you can see that you stay concentrated more easily. If your professor or course does not motivate you, you have to work to bring this motivation you lack. That may be frustrating, however it is worth it: you will benefit from this knowledge that people help you or not. There are plenty of different ways to motivate yourself to learn, the one you choose depends on your personality.
    • You can try to find aspects of this subject that interest you. This could make the rest of the course more interesting, because you will feel that you acquire basic knowledge for something you want to learn. For example, maybe you do not like history classes, but you like medieval knights. In this case, you can try to imagine what you learn in history can be reduced to the knights and you will see that you will focus on your learning easier.
